According to the Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Syndrome Association:

  • Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD) / Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) is a multi-symptom condition which includes persistent moderate to severe pain, swelling, skin color / temperature changes, excessive sweating and limited range of movement / movement disorders.

  • RSD/CRPS can be difficult to diagnose.  Those who suffer with the condition report seeing an average of 5 physicians before being accurately diagnosed.

  • Approximately 200,000 to 1.2 million Americans have RSD/CRPS.

  • CRPS is two to three times more frequent among females than males.

  • The one factor all who suffer with the condition have in common is pain.

  • Early detection and treatment of RSD/CRPS, within the first 3 – 6 months after onset of symptoms, offers the best chance for reducing this progressive condition.
